This is not the lie. A survey was done in 1992 and the bones of a saola were found in the house of a hunter. Upon further inspection of the contents of the house, they realized there were parts of an animal never seen before by scientists.
This is not the lie, they are in fact most closely related to wild cattle/buffaloes, despite their antelope like appearance.
This is the lie, they live in the Annamite Mountains, on the border of Vietnam and Laos, while Palawan is an island in the Philipines.
This is not the lie, they sometimes do this when they want to leave their scent further up a tree.
They are in fact good swimmers.
This is the lie, given how much they eat, they usually poop about 40 times a day.
This is true. In the north they usually breed November to July, in the south May to mid-summer, and in the east they breed the entire year.
This is false, they actually have one of the strongest and are the first to eat, as they can rip open tough skin.
This is true, in Dallas Zoo, their lappet-faced vulture died of unknown causes, and this along with previous accidents at the zoo (primarily cages cut open) led them to offer a reward for the people behind all this.
True, it'll make a high pitched crying sound that can go on for an hour.
This is a lie. Tu'i Malila lived a long time, but died at 188 years old.
Humans aren't positive why they do so, but it appears positive as they seek out water droplets and the like.
This is true. They're primarily spread through it's poop.
This is a lie. Military macaws are monogamous.
Unfortunately they are highly prized as pets
Due to morphological differences between them and other 3 toed sloths, they were categorized as a distinct species in 2001.
This is the lie, their limit is 1 week.
Often, typically large animals living in small environments (particularly islands) will be smaller than their mainland counterparts.
This is true, they prefer Panthera tigris malayensis instead of the common one of Panthera tigris jacksoni.
This is a lie. They are blind at birth.
This is true.
True. A majority of them nest on Tori-shima, Japan.
True as well. First they were hunted to near extinction, and after a volcanic eruption killed many at their breeding colony, they were thought to be extinct in 1949. However, some juveniles had survived at sea, and they were put under protection.
This is a lie, I made it up and there is no reason to believe they do so. However, egg eating behavior of this kind has been observed in captive parrots, and might well be a part of other species behavior.
This is untrue, they live about 6-7 years in the wild and up to 15 in captivity.
Sadly true. There were more released before, but various factors led many of the species to die.
They can. They eat deer, raccoons, and smaller mammals for food.
They are known as hoiho to the Maori in New Zealand, which indeed means noise-maker.
To some they're even considered the most endangered penguin species.
Not true. Estimates range from 1,700 breeding pairs to 6,000 or 7,000 mature individuals.
It is taboo for the locals to hunt them, but they are occasionally killed for food.
Recent studies have shown they can sing in isochrony (when notes and pauses are equal) and in a 1:2 ratio pattern (pauses are twice as much as notes)
Indri in the local language means "there it is" and Europeans did not understand locals and believed Indri indri was their name.
The reverse is actually true, they are one of 2 cat species who can climb down trees headfirst.
True, they are their own species and not a type of leopard, just like the snow leopard.
They seem to have branched off from other Pantherinae members over 6 million years ago.

We hope you learned a bit from this! Stay tuned for next steps, and enjoy the rest of the event! :catsip:
