Been a zombie for 2 yrs, briefly alive for a few mths. Actually im ok. Hope ur well, too. Did u watch all of Sisters who make waves?(i still hvnt watched the last 2/3 episodes because i stalled out on too many unrecognised chinese celebs, those hk/taiwan 90s/00s were ok but too many i dint know!! Then the last few eps i watched the clips n got spoiled so lost any impetus to watch the full ep, followed along cici wang x sica on twt for awhile tho.

Edit glad u got to see the Qose n BP. BP only coming to S.E.A in 2023 after last time in 2019 before i stan em.

Feeling the zombie over here too. I'd probably still have been like that even if there wasnt a pandemic tho

I haven't watched much of it outside of of Jess's performances :nekoshy:
I need to watch that, Songs Like Summer Flowers and the cafe show at some point lmao.
All these years complaining about Jessica not moving and then I completely ignore it:yedone:

Yeah famine then feast is a ironic tragedy/miraculous resurrection. She doesnt rlly need us tho, she has 1 billion potential new supporters LOL

I watched full eps of almost 1 to 8/9 or tried to, its only obvious jess overwhelms others due to her 7 yr training, experience, natural/SM trained charisma n her personal qualities, n she's a natural leader/coach/motivator etcetera at least as edited on the show.

I still dont know how much of Jess (n krys) is fake it till u make it? But she develops relationship with whomever she teams up with(or so it seems as edited) n they all seem to care for/be protective/help her mandarin wise(its unclear to me <thinking critically as i write this> how much artifice as in did she hv mandarin language tutors outside the show beforehand or otherwise but i dont care, she just makes it seem so natural i believe in her fumbling/awkward attempts as if it were real(which it might be, american reality tv notwithstanding).

I cant read the description on china hunan tv or mango tv youtube clips but some of the compressed/highlight(?) Clips are shorter n more accessible. But upload dates are very iffy tho unless u watched it in real(the clips, not the full eps). Tho if ur not interested in the chinese celebs featured it was a slog for me.

The only fake one on her team ending up being Kelly imo. She gets along with the others really well
Basically married Cici

It was a really great and uplifting team, the jiejies and the producers all loved Jessica so much, can't wait for the new show

I thought the seaside band show n the variety show started already, at least i saw clips/excerpts earlier/read it was starting/started already. Not sure the name if the show where sica is a kinda talk show host/MC/special coach(?) but i rmbr she talked about haters to the contestants/participants.

Its tough for me not being able to read mandarin despite it being my mother tongue(sorta) my dialect is kinda niche tho. Regrets on not trying when i was in school tho teachers only taught kinda lackadaisically(in retrospect they tried), it was a national language school, not english mainly. At least i understood most of wat was said on sisters who make waves(sometimes needed the subtitles badly) tho the china mainland slang was tough on non-mainlanders/people who dont live/speak tat slang/particular lingo(i think).

Agree tat it was heartwarming how much sica was embraced by most(all?) The participants who interacted with her. I think they recognised her different status as a world(trained by SM)/kpop idol even tho out of snsd n treated her as such. She outsang/outperformed/outdance/out did everything compared to cyndi wang, their level is so far apart, n i rmbr cyndi n the other 90s/00s hk/taiwan idols from those days, they were huge in S.E.A/east asia especially hk/taiwan.

This is too long already. End(for now). Ps wish mysteric were around, she might give her perspective if she watched/read about this stuff.

Basically married Cici
I nvr heard of cici before, or any of the other china celebs(apart from hk/taiwan idols). I love how cici n others basically adopted sica. N cici is apparently a huge deal in china(n rich too, i think)

The one about the haters is Songs Like Summer Flowers. That's the show Jessica is a judge on and btw she just did a Chinese rendition of Uhm Junghwas DISCO

The seaside band is a Sisters Who Make Waves spin off and it's gonna have Jessica's AOTU team (plus some others) running a cafe with absolutely no money, cooking all the food and doing performances every night. I didn't watch sisters but I'll definitely watch that because it's a much smaller cast plus food and acoustic music :sj_weary:
They wrapped up filming at the beginning of October (Jessica won't be in the last episode) but we have no idea when it's gonna air :sicacry: the Sisters cast babied her pretty well, probably because she was the most experienced performer, and also the youngest. Watching it, I couldn't help but wonder how different things would have been if she'd debuted as the maknae instead of the oldest in SNSD...

You're from Singapore right? I can't imagine how much rougher it would be for you to understand vs me who happily has zero knowledge of Chinese :sicatape: Sounds jarring and low-key disorienting

Not singapore but adjacent, i grew up in a city/town where my dad commuted by car to work everyday for almost 20 yrs or so to singapore, starting from when i was a kid. Its kinda like people who live outside new york n commute to work every weekday, but in a different country. It was quicker going in the beginning but the commute time lengthened as the yrs passed. Nit as bad as just before the end times tho.

I worked there for ard 17 yrs myself but i stayed there after a few mths/half a yr or so because it took 1 hour plus or more to get to work, sometimes 2 hrs n it was brutal going thru customs. Theres a few others from singapore tho, if u dint already know.mostly inactive now. Dint u go to hk previously?(from ur photos i think u posted tat i saw when/after i first joined KS?)

N i think i know the city u live in too, or surroundings tho its much bigger than singapore by magnitudes.

Its ok cause when i was a kid we sometimes watched singapore tv-free access thru airwaves, n its a mix of english n singapore mandarin shows(with eng subtitles)- so im used to it all my life. Local tv had cantonese hk shows but national language subtitles, so i was listening to cantonese, reading the subtitles which language i learned in school n can read(i dint study mandarin lessons) it was a national school, n translating to english in my mind-not very enjoyable so i dint wstch much canto hk shows as a kid. I got better in my mid teens, id say n now can understand much more, since i do speak sometimes. But slowly mostly.

Seaside band sounds like the korean show which had Rosé on it. If seaside band has subtitles n is interesting/engages my attention ill watch it for sica n AOTU band causeci really liked kelly, n i think kelsey another musician-also liu lian but idk if they're in the cast too. The musicians mighta been on sitar team, not AOTU. Ill wait for info/watch n gauge my investment into it.

PS i might edit the personal stuff after u read it, golden_wishes.
