Hello, this is the second part to my Ru'Pauls Drag Race Threads.
This time I will take on Season 5 to 8 and the second season of All Stars.
Here is the link to my thread for Season 1-4 and All Stars 1.

I will first list my favorite queens ( sorry for the mess) and rank season 1 - 8 and All Stars 1 + 2.
After that I will go through Season 5-8 and All Stars 2 and tell you my opinion on it.

My Opinion on the Seasons:

Season 5...
Favorite Queens:
Jinkx, Roxxxy Andrews, Alaska, Alyssa Edwards, Ivy Winters

After the mess of Season 4 and All Stars 1 this was a good surprise for me. I honestly loved the challenges, the looks were nice and so many lovely Queens were in this season. I am also so happy that Jinkx is the winner because she was so classy and lovely since day 1 on the competition. Also the iconic second wig reveal of Roxxxy happened and who could ever forget that moment. All in all there was an improvement here in this season.

Season 6...
Favorite Queens:
Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano, BenDelaCreme, Joslyn Fox, April Carrion

This was a super strong season. Evertything fit. From great challenges to amazing contestants. It also was just hilarious. I might have been now biased tho since I knew of Bianca before I watched the season. I already watched both of the Hurricane Bianca movies and just loved her wits in those. This season for sure deserved No.2 in my personal ranking. And I like to add that the rap challenge and the RuSical was to die for.

Season 7...
Favorite Queens:
Violet, Ginger Minj, Katya, Trixie Mattel, Miss Fame, Max

It's super unfortunate. I really loved the cast of this season and so many iconic queens are here but sadly the challenges got quite exhausting to watch since it was acting challenge after acting challenge. I do think that other Drag Race watchers feel the same about this season. At least some of the iconic ones have been joinng All Stars.

Season 8...
Favorite Queens:
Kim Chi, Naomi Smalls, Thorgy Thor, Cynthia Lee Fontaine

I really don't know what to say about this season. It just fell flat to me. There were so many great runway looks but honestly I just couldn't really conect with alot of queens here. I also felt that it was't as funny as it could have been. Bob the Drag Queen especcially seemed so off. Always saying how funny she is, yet it never got through to me. At least there was an iconic lip sync here.

All Stars 2:
Favorite Queens:
Alyssa Edwards, Tatianna, Katya, Roxxxy

All Stars 2 for sure was way better than season 1. I also really loved most contestants. And all the drama this season made it something fun to watch. There were also some surprises for me. I absolutly fell in love with Tatianna, who I was more meh for me in Season 2, I also appreciated Roxxxy so much more and loved her growth. My love for Katya and Alyssa also got bigger and I can't wait to start watching their web shows after I am done with Drag Race. Sadly Alaska got more meh to me and Phi Phi stayed the same. Especcialy Alaska was shocking to me. I really adored her in S5 but All Stars just showed some different colors to her like that tantrum of hers. All in all it was a good and strong season. And I am now obsessed with Tati's iconic Choices and Thank You's.

yes so far it‘s my least favorite 😅 I just couldn’t with some contestants and idk. I just didn‘t connect with them and I felt like alot of stuff wasn’t that great.
I definitely prefer other seasons over it.

TBH all of the All Stars seasons except for 2, they’re just over produced and it’s really obvious that the producers have decided what’s gonna happen ahead of filming which I know they do with the regular seasons too but with All Stars it’s always super obvious.

yeah that's what I have noticed with All Stars so far. But honestly I am just watching AS for the queens I really love. Like I know how happy I will be to see Manila again and I have fallen in love with Valentina on S9 so I am excited to see her again too. I do think that AS is quite the mess due to the rules tho.
