I have cringed at the american debuts kpop acts have had but this one for me makes me want to seriously smash a glass vase on my head.



Its honestly hard to watch, 'I'll eat you up, so yum yum, cant get enough I think I'm in love' who created this a toddler? The whole song makes no sense at all.

Boa is my favorite solo but this was just not good good beat good dance good girl but the lyrics oh God.

i actually think blackpinks american debut with dua lipa is the best one to come out of western collabs. bts as well. they seem to be the only ones who can actually make something that isnt cringy.

I don't think all of them are embarrassing, but they certainly are mediocre, like Regular, RBB.

Eat You Up is cringy in a good way, I bop to it.

BTS Mic Drop remix, they shouldn't have changed the lyrics to English like that :/ The original is a great song.

it was their first time on a western track and it debuted on the hot 100 (not high but it wasnt promoted because it was a bside) so yeah i would consider it somewhat of a debut.

I think one of the main reason that "American Debut" songs are so cringe-fest 99% of the time, is how the lyrics are re-written.

Take BTS' Mic Drop for instance.

Original Korean song, translated to English:

The reworked English lyrics used in their "American debut" were considerably more cringe (at least, in my opinion they were). It tends to be similar across the board. I'm not sure if it's a lost-in-translation sort of deal, or if a lot of South Korea still feels like what we consider to be cringe is actually "cool" but....it's terribly unfortunate x.x

Lmao omg I remember adding Eat You Up as a song on my Myspace profile in like 2009. Had no idea that BoA was kpop back then but my middle school self really vibed with the song for some reason. But yes the lyrics are bad lmao.
