This weekend, on Easter Sunday, at least 9 bombs detonated in three Sri Lankan cities.
The main targets for the first six bombs were the St.-Antonius-Chirch in Colombo, the St.-Sebastians-Chirch in Negombo and the Zionschurch in Batticaloa.
At the same time a bomb assasination happened in first class hotels in Colombo.
A few hours later a 7th bomb attempt killed two more people in a restaurant, an 8th bomb detonated near a police station, demanding the life of 3 policemen and the suicide bomber himself.
According to the latest research atleast half ( or more ) of those bomb attempts were suicide bombers. Another attempt near the airport of Bandaranaike luckily failed and the police was able to defuse the bomb.
Around 290 people died during this day, another 500 were injured. So far nobody has confessed to the attacks, even though this was probably caused by an Sri Lankan terror organisation. The Sri Lankan government was informed about the plans of such terror attacks and the detailed locations around 2 weeks before they happened by a secret agency, but the government somehow did not try to prevent them
The government declared state of emergency and arrested 24 people so far.
Our thoughts are with our brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka.
